Cheating, Breakup, and Divorce: Is Facebook Use to Blame?

In this article, researhers study the impact of Facebook usage on romantic relationships. They surveyed 205 Facebook users aged between 18 and 82. Among surveyed people, 79 percent reported being in a romantic relationship.

The authors’ main hypothesis is that: more frequent social media use and monitoring of one’s partner could lead to misunderstandings and feelings of jealousy. Their study proved their hypothesis by showing that there is a correlation between relationship health and Facebook usage.

This study shows that high level of Facebook usage results in negative relationship outcomes, which supports our main argument.
