Hasan Balcı

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in the USA, supervised by Dr. Augustin Luna. My research interests range from developing novel methods for the visualization and analysis of graphs to their applications in the bioinformatics field. Recently, my focus has been on developing new techniques that leverage large language models (LLMs) to facilitate and expand the use of graph-based biological notations such as SBGN.

I was previously a postdoctoral researcher at the Maastricht Centre for Systems Biology (MaCSBio) in the Netherlands, where I worked under the supervision of Dr. Martina Summer-Kutmon. I earned my PhD in Computer Engineering from Bilkent University in Türkiye under the supervision of Dr. Ugur Dogrusoz.
