Hasan Balcı

I recently completed my postdoctoral research at the National Library of Medicine (NLM), NIH, where I worked with Dr. Augustin Luna.

My research interests lie at the intersection of graph visualization, graph algorithms, and computational biology. I develop computational and interactive methods for representing, analyzing, and visualizing complex networks, with a particular focus on biological networks and pathway maps. I combine graph-based methods with AI-assisted and human-in-the-loop approaches to support biological knowledge curation and interpretation. I am also interested in knowledge graphs and graph-based approaches to scientific data integration and analysis.

I was previously a postdoctoral researcher at the Maastricht Centre for Systems Biology (MaCSBio) in the Netherlands, where I worked under the supervision of Dr. Martina Summer-Kutmon. I earned my PhD in Computer Engineering from Bilkent University in Türkiye under the supervision of Dr. Ugur Dogrusoz.
